Ngành da giày Việt Nam vẫn phải nhập khẩu nguyên liệu tới 60%

Theo Hiệp hội Da-Giày-Túi xách Việt Nam, hàng năm, kim ngạch xuất khẩu của ngành da giày chiếm gần 10% tổng kim ngạch xuất khẩu của cả nước. Ngoài ra, ngành này cũng đáp ứng 50% nhu cầu tiêu dùng trong nước và giải quyết việc làm cho hơn 1 triệu lao động. Thế nhưng, hiện nay, ngành công nghiệp da giày Việt Nam vẫn chủ yếu dựa trên gia công, nguyên phụ liệu chủ yếu phải nhập khẩu (gần 60%), nhiều nhất là da thuộc.
