Nam Phi sẽ sớm triển khai kế hoạch xây dựng dự án nhà máy điện hạt nhân quy mô trung bình với công suất khoảng 2.500 MW nhằm đa dạng hóa nguồn cung cấp năng lượng trong bối cảnh điện than hiện đang cung cấp tới hơn 90% tổng lượng điện tại quốc gia phát triển nhất châu Phi này.
