Ngày 24/12, tàu tiên phong thăm dò Mặt Trời Parker của Cơ quan Hàng không Vũ trụ Mỹ (NASA) đã làm nên lịch sử khi bay gần Mặt Trời hơn bất kỳ tàu vũ trụ nào khác nhờ lớp “khiên” chắn nhiệt, giúp tránh được nhiệt độ thiêu đốt hơn 930 độ C.
